The Athens Chamber of Tradesmen organizes training programs on “Basic Principles of Food Health and Safety”

  1. To whom it is addressed:

The training program is addressed to those involved in food handling, in businesses engaged in one or more of the following activities: manufacturing, processing, production, packaging, storage, transportation, distribution, handling and offering for sale or disposal of food. It is also addressed to companies involved in and linked to the food chain (e.g. consulting companies, exterminating companies, equipment manufacturers, packaging companies, etc.).

  1. Description:

These programs aim at quality assurance, production of safe products and consumer protection in accordance with Regulation 852/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs. Level 1 programs are designed to train simple operators on general health and food safety issues. The minimum duration is 10 hours. EFET determines the minimum content of the programs, approves and monitors their implementation as planned, conducts the evaluation process and issues the relevant certificates.

DAY 1:

  1. Introduction to food safety
  2. Microorganisms and their characteristics
  3. Food poisons and its prevention
  4. Personal hygiene and behavior of the food handler

DAY 2:

  1. The Working Environment
  2. Cleaning practices
  3. Common miasmas and control thereof
  4. Food hygiene legislation

Participation fee:  30 € + 20 € for EEA members and 30 € + 30 € for non-members
